Using Opsgenie Actions in Slack

You can use Opsgenie actions directly through slash (/) commands in Slack — no need to access the Opsgenie web interface, making incident response faster and more convenient.

Before using the commands below, you must link your Slack and Opsgenie accounts by entering:

/genie connect


Frequently Used Opsgenie Commands 

You must use the exact team name and alert number as registered in Opsgenie.

Create Alert/genie alert [alert message] for [team1, team2, user1..]
/genie alert Threshold exceeded for ZCP Public
Acknowledge Alert /genie ack [tinyID1, tinyID2..]/genie ack 3127
Close Alert /genie close [tinyID1, tinyID2..]/genie close 3127, 3389


Manually Creating an Alert 

Manual alerts can be useful in the following scenarios: 

  • You've acknowledged an alert but cannot resolve it yourself, and need to escalate via phone call.

  • A system alert requires immediate phone notification to the corresponding DT Platform team.

Include Manual Alert in the alert message to indicate manual escalation. 

  • Example: /genie alert Manual Alert - Please check node failure. for ZCP Public
