Overview

It recommends Subscriptions for resources that are currently using On-Demand costs, which can be optimized for cost savings through CSP-provided Subscriptions.

You can check the expected savings amount based on various Subscription options.

The actual application of the Subscription can be done through the CSP console, and the recommendations may vary depending on the time and conditions of the query.

View cost optimization recommendations

When selecting Cost Optimization Recommendations from the left menu in Cloud Z Cost Manager, you will be redirected to the recommendations inquiry page.

The recommended services provided by each CSP are as follows:

• AWS

  • EC2-RI/Savings Plans

  • RDS-RI

  • Redshift-RI

• Azure

  • RI

• Azure LSP

  • RI

By selecting the Subscription conditions provided by each CSP and choosing the resources currently using On-Demand pricing, you will be provided with a list of Subscription recommendations from the available options.

In the expected savings effect, the recommendation with the highest cost reduction rate compared to On-Demand pricing will be highlighted, providing both the estimated monthly savings amount and the savings rate.

The recommendation types are as follows:

• Compute Savings Plans

  • Applies to EC2 instance usage regardless of instance family, size, AZ, region, OS, or tenancy.

  • By purchasing one Compute Savings Plan, you can apply discounts to all EC2 instances within the committed amount. 

• EC2 Savings Plans

  • Commitment based on usage for resource type instance families.

  • By purchasing one Instance Family EC2 Savings Plan, you receive resource discounts for all instance families within the committed amount. 

  • If you use more resources than the committed amount of the Savings Plan, the excess usage will not be discounted. 

• Integrated RI

  • Recommend Reserved Instances (RI) within the same family type by bundling multiple resource types (e.g., r5.4xlarge, r5.xlarge, r5.large) to achieve the highest discount rate.

• Individual RI

  • Recommend Reserved Instances (RI) for each discountable resource type individually.

In addition to the user's selected conditions, it also analyzes whether there are other Subscriptions that can provide greater savings and offers them as additional recommendation information. For example, if the user selects a 1-year Subscription but a 3-year Subscription offers greater cost savings, a Other Options button will be displayed. By clicking this button, the user can view the details.

Set query conditions

You need to select the query conditions that serve as the basis for the recommendations. Choose conditions such as the Subscription period, prepayment status, and class based on the resource type being recommended. The available condition options will vary depending on the resource type.

Select target resources

If you want to view recommendations for only certain resources among those currently using On-Demand costs, you can select specific target resources.
